Plumbing points in the wrong place at frame

Waste points cast in the wrong spot surface when the walls go up.

Beveridge 3753 · 10 March 2026

In short: Plumbing is set out before the slab and only checked against the walls at frame. In Beveridge that is where errors appear.

Why frame is the test

Before frame, a waste point is just a pipe in a slab. Once walls stand, it either lines up with the toilet or vanity on the plans or it does not.

What we found

A waste point cast in the wrong position that needed concrete cut to relocate it, and on another job toilet waste pipes missing entirely at frame stage.

Before the slab

Damaged stormwater and sewer pipes have also been found in the slab area before pouring. They are cheap to replace then and expensive later.

After frame

Sewer pipes left uncapped at lock-up collect debris that can block the line before the house is even occupied.

What to do

Bring the plumbing layout to the frame inspection, and ask for any relocation to be done before wall linings.

FAQ

Questions Beveridge owners ask about this

Who fixes a wrong waste point?

The builder, usually through the plumber, before linings go on.

Does cutting the slab weaken it?

Small cuts are routine when done properly. Large cuts near beams need the engineer to comment.

Can you check plumbing pressure?

No. We inspect positions visually; pressure testing is the plumber's job.

Is this checked at the slab too?

Yes, we compare set-out to the plans before the pour, but walls make errors obvious.
